Who clicks Google Ads???

I have been with adsense sometime now. I have had few websites to start with...sold some...bought new & things are going good. I have gone through alot of websites, blogs, forums etc. People talk about where to place ads...what are the keys ..SEO etc etc. One thing I have never read anywhere but have experienced myself & holds the prime key..That is Who clicks on Google Ads. How many of us (webmasters) have actually clicked on any Google ad knowingly? I dont think even 10% of the people here do that.

The above question of mine is directly propotional to the content...content is again directly proportional to the visitors... In other words..If you make a site related to SEO, Hosting or something like HTML, security etc. you are obviously inviting webmasters and that portion of the surfers who know what Google Ads is all about.

This means that people unknown with what Google text ads are the only revenue generators for us. Will our revenue from Adsense become less as more people come to know & say "Hey, thats an Advertisement not a link...I wont click that".??

All of the said above is strictly on my experience with websites business

I click on ads (not my own obviously) I see sometimes, if they really interest me.

And most of the time I read the first 2 ads, just to check if there is something interesting there.

Yes, I have been tempted to click on some. It all depends on closely the ads match the content on the pages. For example, when I was struggling to get page impressions for my new site, I was tempted to click on one of those google ads promising "10,000 instant visitors" or something like that. If someone reads a travel article about Australia and one of the ads offers cheap holiday package to Australi, people will be tempted to click on them. It also depends a lot on the words the advertisers use on the ads themselves. This is one of the reaosns why they are far superior to say banner ads.

If the ad really intrests me I click on it to go see.
But I think most clicks come from users who don't know that the clicks are payed to the webmaster

    1) people trying to quickly leave a site.
    2) people thinking the ad is a link within a site.
    3) people tricked into clicking.
    4) people being nice because the website says 'support us, click the ads'
    5) people who's friends and/or family asked them to.
    6) people paid to do so.
    7) people who accidentally click an ad.
    8) people who click their own ads.

    Did I miss anyone?

Oh yeah; the odd person that truly finds an ad interesting.

Hey this is true even if i watch a adsense link in a page and if that is
informative to me,i will not click on because my inner sense tells me not to click it.i think 99% webmasters will not click on any ads

I click on ads if it interests me and if I feel that it is something I need or should know about.

I agree. It's a logical but important point that some people miss Harry.

But I have clicked on Google Ads because it was related to interesting content or someothing I was looking for.

I would agree though. A webmaster site would probably have a low CTR.

I saw an interesting ad (only 1 Google ad interested me yet)...It was about a script to add content to WP automatically...I did not click it...I saw the URL & typed it in my browser. Also, if you click an ad on Mr. A's site & MR. A clicks one on yours (not a plan ofcourse :p)...that would definetely raise Google's eyebrow.
Theres a very low chance of this but can be risky....we know once banned Google will never listen to you.

I've actually seen quite a few ads that have interested me but they were always on my own sites. A few times I have actually bothered to type in the URL and visit the site..

    Never gave that a thought!
Just imagined it was visitors to my sites.
Now I find that maybe the reason for the low CTR was that most of my visitors just plain do not click on the ads!

If google would allow webmasters to remove those "ads by goooooogle", it may help.

Wonder if google has plans to make a new adsense code whereby it automatically links keywords in the content to an advertiser?
No more ads, just the keywords either highlighted or underlined.

Now that would be nirvana, plus a big minus to pure adsense sites with no content.

ive clicked many ads mostly about technology and pretty good info i found. i actually read ads placed good where i dont need extra energy to see them. it started with google sponsored links. once we was on a project and couldnt find the real related content at search results and then a firend of mine clicked on a sponsored link and gotchaa! that was what we searching for hours =)

i really used to look at sponsored links before search results. i think that's the reason why google loves me

I've watched my Dad on the internet, he clicks on ad's. Many times he does not even realize they are ad's. Basically, I think many newer internet users either older or younger are doing clicking.

Guess there would be a time when hardly anyone would click on text ads...alot of ppl have/had infected their PC with spywares by clicking on the lame ad that said click here to get rid of pop ups & stuff....now they know wht to click & what not. I used to work for Dell support as trainer - Was very difficult dealing with innocent customers ho had no idea what they are doing.

hmmm, I have a site which is based on SEO tips and tricks, It gives me good CTR, Even though the ads just of basic format, Its difficult to judge who clicks on ads.
It totally depends on how one see's and what he/she see's..
