http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21186181/ Maybe I'm reading this wrong but sure looks like someone was more interested in leaking info then actually using intel to capture terrorists. I am not placing blame or anything, just kind of odd that someone inside the white house would do such a thing when they are always jumping up and down on every little intel method to keep it 'secret'. I hope who ever did it dealt with severely.
This story isn't quite accurate. SITE got the video on 9/7 or something, but ABC had the translation on 9/6, so intelligence had it before SITE had acquired it. http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/10/windows-into-al.html The number of leaks in government is appalling; but it doesn't seem to have affected much: Why we have people in government, who continue to go unprosecuted, leaking to the press astounds me. It's not like it'd be hard to figure out who does it.
How does anything you posted prove anyone had it before hand? The only thing I see is one other competitor claiming that they can still get to the material, and that they constantly have to change tactics. Of course they are going to have to change tactics, more so when leaks are made such as this It's like saying well it's difficult anyways, so make it a bit harder is not so bad.
SITE didn't get it until 9/7. ABC's footage had it dated 9/6 ? I'm not sure where the confusion lies. You have an A B problem here. You assume that whomever runs the jihadi websites aren't keeping up with security and fixing holes that are being discovered. Of course it has to change all the time. Just like hackers make new viruses; I'm sure this works much the same way. Close one hole, open another.
Proof? Even if proven ABC had it how does this equal intelligence having it already? So there are already problems, no problem adding to it. What a theory and logic, seriously not following you here. Simply because doors already close it means nothing that more doors were closed because of a leak. Hell some were going to close anyways. Are you flipping serious? ANY leak or fuxx up that causes a method of gathering intelligence against the terrorists, especially if they are such the threat Bush, his cronies and 'cough' backers on this very board claim them to be should be stiffly dealt with. Not simply shrugged off. Your bolding BTW, they still have access to the material. That material is no longer secret or grabbed before it should have been is it?
The date on their video? That ABC was told by the intelligence dept they knew about the video? You are reading too much into this. You always have to change what you do in order to gather intelligence. The story I posted says as much. SITE is complaining about this, but it seems they got the tape a day after it was already known about. The leaking, I agree, is a huge problem. But it's not a "Bush" problem. It's a Washington problem. Everyone wants to be that un-named source and too many are willing to sell out national security to do so. I think its pathetic that government doesn't go after these people and lock them up. But it's been going on for decades now. Making it a Bush/Cronies/backers issue simply weakens the point you are making.
$10 says the leak (if they find the person) is a flaming Liberal who hates the Bush Admin...any takers?
Whoever it is should be tried to the fullest extent of the law. I did not see a video, was there one at that link? I checked several times, will check again. Yes tactics need to constantly change, I wont disagree with that. However when it's willfully done by someone in our government that causes this it's a bit more than tactics simply needing to change. I never meant to say it's a Bush problem, the only reason I brought up Bush was #1 he's the man currently in office, #2 it sounds like it came from his administration, #3 Bush supporters didn't appear to be against this Bush supporters not jumping on this and saying the person should be fried but trying to make it less than it is when they normally would jump up and down for any little 'terrorist' related leak makes their points much weaker acrossed the board.
