    I don't think any of the big players will be able to beat Google. When Google is finally beaten as the peoples search engine of choice it will be by an outsider, just like Google once was.

    But remember still microsoft is more stronger and pioneer. The contribution of Microsoft in IT is far beyond than Google's contribution.

    Anyways back to topic.
    Its difficult to kill google, as its highly flexible and adaptable. Google hasn't remained just a search engine, with gtalk, youtube, orkut, blogger under its umbrella, google is much much bigger. It can anyday and everyday use the services of those service oriented sites to stay on top for much longer period. Microsoft will need to have strategic acquisitions and consistent performance at least for two decades to stop people from using the term google as a synonym to search. Even after multi million spent by microsoft to promote bing, nobody says 'go bing that term'. Bing isn't catchy term, Yahoo still is. The only way to kill google is buyout google and just fire out all the working staff :)
