When we look at the current situation, it seems impossible that any SE will become a possible threat for Google. Google dominates the "Search" industry and it will rule without any fear for years to come.
bing is looking like a competitor.. just read an article on tc that it's gaining search marketshare everyday!
It's impossible, there wont and never will be a real competitor to google. I really believe that their fate was decided before google even actually existed beyond an idea. Google isn't just successful, it was meant to be, it has to be, it's part of the worldwide agenda. An agenda beyond and behind google.
I don't think it is as simple as one competitiors because Google competes in so many different sectors, i.e Video advertising, search engines, text link advertising. All of these will present different competitors. There is no point in one company trying to do all of these as google will squeeze them out, instead those companies that do well will focus on a specific niche
The way search.twitter.com is performing and changing algorithms, their idea and the shifting users over it, gives me feeling that they are the only who can compete Google in near future, as they had already collected a lots of users and data. The difference and best part of it is that its database is updated every second, all users provide their information around the world every second which provide us with the huge volumes of news and information being transmitted to Twitter every second, so may be it takes over Google in near future.
yea, i agree with you google taking over all sectors on net just wonder what website will be bought by google after that amazing youtube.
I was really hopeful of Leapfish http://www.leapfish.com There SE can search any search engine via hyper-thread to produce live results as you type. I'm still thinking people are going to start using it because their traffic has been steadily increasing and the CEO was a boy genius. The Yahoo,MSN merger looks promising. I really feel they have something up their sleeves. We'll just have to wait and see on that one.
