The term MP4 player is being bandied about a lot these days but it can be a confusing term. So what is an MP4 player? Depends who you are talking to really. Some will say it is a portable device that can play MP4 video files. But the confusing thing is that some manufacturers will still name their models ‘MP4 players’ even though they don’t support this format, but merely to advertise that it can play video. Also, some manufactures name their next generation of MP3 players MP4 players even though they do not play MP4 files (interesting logic huh?). Lesson? Disregard the fancy name given to the player and go straight to the list regarding what file formats it supports.
