Hello All: I'm brand new to this Forum. I've been talking to a buddy of mine who has been offering advice to me about getting my domain http://www.villas.com off the ground. I was a publisher of a top glossy magazine in Europe before making the transition from paper and ink to "e". We've got our site up and running and we have rocketed up the charts, we are picked up and indexed by all the SE's and our Alexa ranking stands at 180,000 and we're falling at about 10,000 to 20,000 points per week (we started at 1,500,000 in September). So, the aforementioned buddy told me I should put the domain up for sale, and that it is going to be worth a bundle. You see, I've already spent a bundle in development, and I'm about to spend lots more taking it to the next step. We are in our roll out phase, so I'm building content by letting selected companies display their products for free. I don't anticipate charging for another many months. Faced with a huge investment so far and more to come, maybe I'm just as well off selling. Who are the movers and shakers in the world of domain brokers? I am a serious player who doesn't want to dance around with bozos. All the best, and thanks for your time to review this. Steve
You can put it on Sale at Sedo & make it a featured domain for a while Or you can join DNForum & post to ask a broker.
It depends whether you are selling a site or a domain name. For a domain name you just put it on sedo of auction it on a forum. For a full site you will get a higher price selling it offline to somebody in the business. Most big players will not hang around DP or sedo waiting for a high value domain to pop up.
On dnforum I know of a few people who have sold/bought domains xxx,xxx to 1.5m That is a good place to start.
This domain is going to be of interest to people that have a lot of money in the realestate / vacation / rental / condo / timeshare industries which I suspect don't hang out here at DP (no offense to my fellow DP webmasters). If it was me I would try to identify who the established brick and morter top 5 prospects are and target their market via the SERPs to establish some credibility. Once you can show high rankings, good traffic & the potential of impacting their businesses hire you a really good bus dev consultant / attorney and approach all the target's with an offer to sell (or partner). It's going to cost you a percentage but if you structure the deal correctly you'll make a lot more than if you sell it on auction or BIN. -jay
Hey All: I've only been on this forum for a few minutes. Thanks for the helpful replies. Now a really dumb question. What and where is "dnforum"? I gonna fee even more dumberer, if this is DNForum! Steve
It's www.dnforum.com I like Digital Point & have been a member for a long time but if you are looking for the High End Domain Brokers they are all either Platinum or Executive Members of DNForum. They pay for their memberships because they are really making money in domaining. It's pure business for them. Here you will find some people selling some stuff but look to DNJournal.com to see where the high end sales are coming from. On my forum we've been dealing with a few high sales low X,XXX but it only deals with IDN Domains. DNForums have Pro Domainers. Pay fore the membership to post a broker request. A membership is like $50 but if you stand to make over XX,XXX on a sale isn't it worth it? Most people make back their membership fees with their first sale so it's no risk if you have good domains. Don't waste your time. Sedo has high end brokers too. I believe afternic does too. NameDrive recently had a big sale also. Do research yourself but look to www.dnjournal.com to see where all the high end sales came from. You can do it yourself or look to DNForum to request a broker.
i think greatdomains.com and sedo.com are the top ones. i've used both of them successfully in the past, although none of my domains were "high-end"...but i've seen a lot of high-end domains go for 6 figures on those sites.
