I've never clicked on one in my 12+ years on the internet, don't know how old the program is. I have used sponsored links multiple times on the first SERP of google, but I'm not even tricked by adsense. They all seem ludicrous, win 10000 scholarship etc.
The very fact that you're on a webmaster/seo forum means you're far more aware of all this junk and won't click it, you're giving the general public too much credit for intelligence that they dont possess!
hehe.. nice comment. i have to agree with this. I do click on adsense ads from other sites (of course not my own as I value the long term partnership with google rather than a few bucks cheating it ) its soo tempting that such relavant information is readily available sometimes. On hunting for deals like hosting. i do a regular search and check the sponsored links. they got true good deals and have made a few real transactions and sales via sponsored links. so adwords works
i will click it if the title is intersting enough or i can not find what i want from the page i'm on. sometime just my curiousity though.
I think the ads are more relevant on sites with product reviews for example in a certain domain or when you see some targeted ads in general, ads that link with the content you are reading.
all the teens , newbies on net click mostly or the one who is click bombing , or the one who is getting paid to do so , or the one who is browsing net through ads
I'll click on one here or there to help a site out. I may have clicked on one once or twice because I was genuinely interested.
Couldn't have said it better myself. There are actually people out there who still think they're going to follow some e-book's advice and make a million dollars using ClickBank... I've clicked on occasional ads because they seemed interesting, however, most of the bigger AdWords advertisers (Countrywide home loans, etc) that probably don't get many clicks vs. impressions are doing it for "brand recognition" because a potential customer might click the Adwords ad and come back several days or weeks later to use their services.. So it's not all about the clicks.
I agree with Vic Mackey about webmasters being a little bit more savy but then again if its interesting who cares! Although i posses a little fear in clicking Google ads on other webmasters sites in case they make 0.01 more than me! :0)
I do click when I find it appealing or interesting or worth checking. I like the Ad, I click, I dont like, I dont click...simple!
