Please help me, going mad with this! I am trying to change to main shared IP for a reseller. I have gone to 'RESELLER CENTER' - 'RESELLER MODIICATIONS' - Manage Ip Delegation AND Manage Main Shared/Ipless Ip. I have changed the IP in both of these places and given it 2 days but new accounts are still being created on another shared IP. Am I missing somehwere else I have to edit. I realise I can change IP on a site by site basis but I really need to change the shared IP. Any ideas, anyone? Thanks in advance
After you have changed the Main shared IP, have you gone in Manage Ip Delegation and unselect Allow reseller to use any avalible ip address then only choose the new ip adress you want him to use ?
Thanks for your reply, yes I have done that. In both areas the IP I want is selected but new accounts still going to the default (original IP) I have also posted this on the Cpanel forum who have suggested that it could be the user I am logged in as but I am root?
I think I have solved this. When in Reseller Center - IP Delegation, you have to select all of the availiable IP addresses and not just the one you want to restrict to. Then back to 'Manage Main Shared/Ipless Ip' and select the IP you want accounts created on. For some reason this then works even though it was showing as (Current) before? Oh well, hope I haven't broken anything else.
I would humbly suggest to anybody pondering applying CPanel to your server, DON'T DO IT... CPanel is a total abortion. I paid for a license last year, every time my firewall blocked their license checker running on odd ports, it caused me hours of wasted time for the few hosting clients I have that used it, plus, I don't like leaving ports open in my iptables firewall unless it's absolutely necessary. I weaned all my hosting clients off CPanel, and let my license expire this year, but the darn CPsrvd daemon is still running and causing my server to hang up. Plus Cpanel totally destroys a linux system. I'm using RHEL5 (FC6) on a dual processor, 2GB Ram PEER1 dedicated server and CPanel damage is incomprehensible (they don't have an uninstall). All the damage caused by CPanel is not supported by PEER1. CPanel moved all my configuration files, everything to it's way of doing things, switched the mail server from sendmail/qpopper/qmail to this Exim crap. I've been using Linux on dedicated or co-located servers for 15 years and know how to write Sendmail filters to kill spam, Exim is an abortion with it's queues that don't run as background processes, and what CPanel has done to the machine I PAID to install it on is totally a disgrace. Plus their service/support is the worst support ever. They want the root password to your box for support. Sorry, sysadmin here since 1992, nobody get's my "root" password. If you can't tell an experienced linux guru such as myself where to look, forget it. I regret switching from Plesk. At least Plesk doesn't alter my system. Oh well, at least I've gotten used to running commands from the /scripts directory cPanel installed but I still can't get all the kludges cPanel causes on my system (ie: running three stats packages when all my users use Google analytics)... CPanel = Garbage
