As of a few munites ago, I notice that www2.google.com and www3.google.com are pointing back to the main www.google.com. Do you suppose they have taken those toys off the table?
They are, or were, alternate Google sites; they look/ed and act/ed just like regular Google, but were widely thought to offer a small "peek into the future""--that is, be somewhat more up to date that the main google. In my limited experience, that was so. For large site in the process of slowly being indexed, 2 and 3 always showed site page counts a nontrivial amount higher than G classic. It begins to look like G wants to take away all webmaster-useful toys, from PR to sneak peeks.
Eric, Thanks for the information. I wish I'd known that some time ago, but I suppose it's irrelevant now if it's been taken away.
I guess we will all just have to wait and see if they come back on line. I am hoping that we get a few of these toys back though.
