Hi, I own a mailform processor website (check my sig), and I ask all my users to add a backlink to my site in order to ue the service. This one particular user placed a white link and added a white background, in order to make the link invisible. Will this help me in growing a linkweb? the site is http://www.yes-dk.dk/YES/nyhedsbrev.html , just highlight everything and you'll notice the link. grz
ok, so it's not my problem? But it still upgrades my ranking? Because PR3 is no peanuts for me, I must grab every link I can get grz
THis practice is unethical in my opinion. If you have something to hide then would you not agree that there is some potential foul play? This is a reflection of how you do business. If an SEM company uses this practice in its web promoting business then they are putting their clients at risk as well as attracting those of like mind. Just my opinion. Regards, Q The Optimizer
Not the point here since he is getting linked to, not the other way around. I dont see a reason the link wouldnt count as a regular link just because its color is different.
I agree with you but, if you ever want to attract quality in the future you may want to discourage thos who use this method. If this becomes a trend with your site since you allow such privliges the others or the same person will continue with this practice. It may be looked at as a link farm or even spam. Guilty by association? There are many alternatives if you have the time and patience. Remeber quality not quantity over time pays off in the long run. If this one site using hidden text to link to you is the only one using the 'technique' (I use the word advisedly) then you don't have to worry too much about it. It's not your website and you have no control over the content. However, and this is where caution must prevail, if you have employed a marketing firm to boost your search engine rankings and they are quietly placing hidden links on a network of sites that they manage, then you are in danger of being bumped down the rankings instead of upwards.
I don't really care whether it's visible by visitors, it's just that I don't want to get blocked by google. The webadmin uses my mailform processor and in exchange I ask my users to place a link on their website. He placed the link, but he hid it. What shal I do? a) Tell him to make him visible b) ban him c ) do nothing? grz
Well, that's up to you of course but the idea of having links is so human visitors can see them, find them and use them.
