White line around image in Illustrator CS2

I am saving a graphic for the web and every time I save it in illustrator I get a thin white line around the image. I can open it in Photoshop and crop it to get rid of the white line but the image loses its clarity when I try this. Any ideas?

Are you sure you have turned off the border/stroke color? Usually it happens that the white border is left unseen on the white background. When you save it for web with transparent background the white border becomes evident.

No, the line is not on. The graphic that I'm working on right now has the border on both sides and the bottom, but not the top. The line is very, very thin.

I found the solution to the problem. When saving to the web you need to choose the "matte color" to match the background that you will be showing the graphic on. The default causes it to dither to a white background and causes the white line that was giving me such a problem.:)
