White hat cloaking ?

    Hello

first of all I don't want to use such black hat techniques like cloaking to get good SERPs.

But I want to redirect scripts, programs or visitors from a specific IP range / domain to a different page of my website. (not google or any other SE)

Is there a way doing this without risk or getting a penalty?

this should be fine if its done with good intention, sounds like how some websites detect which country your from to redirect you to the specific country page

Matt cuts clarify that this kind of cloaking is ok and even Google use it, just dont write a code to target Google bot and change the content for it

if you selectively presenting content to user, then you most likely already cloaking. regardless how, its cloaking. and SE definately dont like to see this.

the main site should the same for all, just a small portion or indicator of location will do. thus you are safe.

i know "Cloaking" is a technical method of analyzing search engine IP numbers and/or http user agents and accordingly delivering content dependant upon it. Each search engine has a range of IP numbers which they use to spider web sites. Cloaking detects whether a visitor is "human" or a search engine robot.

can u anybody tell me about white hat cloaking

    thanx..
