    Hi Guys!

As I understand Classified ads, Articles submission and Directory submission will all give you backlinks. However, would you happen to know which of the three is most effective?

Well if you ask me I think I would go with Article Directory provided I know that my articles are being read. That is because not only will you get a backlink from the article directory but you will have other directories pick up your article with your link giving you more links.

Additionally, articles get read and if people like what you have to say, you build a reputation. Then if they like your website you get word to mouth advertising from those who read your articles and that means traffic.

But why limit yourself to one. Use all three. Just concentrate a little harder on article directories. Hope that helped!

    Thanks for your insight Uniqueasitis!

You have a point, by creating a quality article that people would read, most likely your site will have more visitors and eventually many related sites would be linking to you. :D

directory submissions are the better ones for sites, where information isn't updated often.

Thanks for your input Bomberman and Aislandas!

But personally, why do you find it more effective or why would you prefer directory submission over classified and article. Would it be possible for you to provide me some advantages of directory submissions? If it's not a hassle for both you. It would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance. :)

I believe that a good link building effort involves multiple methods. Of the those that you mentioned I would say that submitting to quality directories and then secondly article directories. In addition make sure that you have some good content on your site.

Links serve 2 good purposes: SEO and traffic -- a bit of both does not hurt. Article and directories should be selected on quality. By targeting traffic, I have reduced traffic to my site but greatly increased revenue!

oldstocks.com is my VERY niched site

    Thanks oldstocks!

May I ask if you have any lists of quality sites for Article and Directory submissions? If you could provide these lists here, it will be very beneficial to all that who would read this thread. Tnx! :D

Ahhh...people on DP are quick to say..."yes, of course - Article submission will get you traffic"...well, teh reality is that it's easier said than done!! Most of these guys don't even do it themselves...

Reality is...there are so many articles for literally any given niche that the whole article submission craze over the last year has built up plenty of competition....that means, today your articles are less likely to be seen!

There are exceptions...i.e: premium submissions, featured paid submissions, hiring pro's, authority content etc...

But at least the smart ones amongst us know that it won't come cheap...additionally, can be time-consuming!

So don't just jump at what some ficko's here on DP say...a little logic goes a long way! (ooh, that rhymes!)

I checked several free classifieds sites and found that all of them put a nofollow tag on the links.

Thanks J.cardell01 for giving another side of article submissions, I greatly appreciate that. :D

And Billybw, thanks for the info on classifieds as well! I didn't know that most of the classified sites has "no follow" tags on it. I have a question though, would it be possible for you to provide a list of the classifieds sites that has "no follow" tags on it? Just wondering. :D

I think you need a wide range of site types when building backlinks.

I personally like directory submissions because the submission process can be seni automated and as such you can submit to a lot of directories in a short space of time. Most of them these days use capcha scripts or answer the question scripts to defeat bots, in addition an increasing number require e-mail confirmation so full automation not easy.

I have done the article submission bit and I felt it was useful because most of the directorie seem to allow three backlinks. I was allowed 2 different anchor text links in the article and on link to my home page in the bit about the author (if memory serves me right)

I have been looking at classifieds but I am not yet convinced. There seem to be a lot of spammers and dodgy types in there. There are a couple of sites advertising submission software but I tried one but was unimpressed. If they dont offer do follow links I am not sure of their value, and if there arent any good scripts for submitting ads then it just takes to long to be viable. (I am assuming that the ads only stay on the ads site for a set period of time).

Other good places to build links: I subscribe to a couple of blogs and a couple of forums that interest me, I also look out for trade bodies and organisations related to my site topic because they often have link options.

I also look at where the competion is getting links to get ideas.

If anyone out there knows of a good classified ads submission script please share with us mortals. Alternatively perhaps we could start our own list of classified ad sites so that people know which are good, which are bad and which are palin ugly.
