Hi all, I am new to WP, but good with hmtl and css. I am looking for a WP theme that is best for personal blogging. It must have socail media buttons at the top next to the author or floating on the left hand side. I don't have the time to look trough hundreds of themes for this. Can you recommend me a great professional theme please? I have looked at Genesis theme, but i can not see the social media buttons for sharing the articles anywhere. Thanks, Zsolt
actually you can get too many social sharing plugins regardless of what theme you are using. or manually put the code (you can get the code from addthis.com, etc ) into your theme.
Yes, don't worry about Sharing buttons, you can easily integrate them if you know basics of html/css. Adthis.com is great for that reason, just don't forget to customize settings to choose only prefered social networks. Elesway your visitors will be lost in more then 300 sharing systems. You have to give some of your time to chose the design, it's really important part of Project. Don't be too quick.
genesis theme will be best choice. You can use Jetpack plugin to add social sharing for the post. You just need to activate it and hassle free. You can see how social works from my site: www.logicclub.com on article footer. Further more some of genesis theme are built in social profile for sidebar. all you need to create menu with definite css class. If you still want to look for other wordpress theme. I will find you perfect theme to need you.
A huge thank you for all the replies! I think I will go with the Genesis theme. Does anybody know which social plugin creates that floating share bar which is sort of "outside the page" on the left hand side (stays there regardless of scrolling)? Thank you again! Zsolt
Since you know HTML/CSS it's not going to be that hard to make your own theme and design it your way, just follow some turotials and you'll make it by yourself.
I use Responsive theme (FREE) and then use the Sociable plug-in. Sociable will allow you to move the social media buttons and you can disable the plug-in on a per page/post basis, meaning you don't have to have the social media buttons on certain pages/posts if you don't want them there. Sociable also allows you to pick and choose which social media buttons you want to be displayed.
