I heard many times that I can get backlinks from not good websites or directories which will give me a negative points. So my question is: how I'll know or how can I check which website is good and which is bad for my backlinks.
the best/good site for your backlink is from .gov site or some site which has high page rank such as PR7 or PR8
PR is irrelevant (and can be faked). Instead, look to do guest posting, for example, and try to focus on gaining (not just placing) backlinks from authority sites.
Wow, this is something new for me, I always heard that PR is the most important things. Could you explain me a little bit more, how PR can be fake?
always make backlinks from your niche related sites. if your site is on health niche try to get backlinks from the same niche.
Good advice... Let's make something like human, not a robot. And you know, human like to look for friends who has the same niches.
.edu baklinks are good links google giving more prefers for this one only and than bookmarking site, directories site.
Search engines really like the sites are edu or gov,so if you get backlinks from these sites, it is very good. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2456311 For your rank 2 website page, you need about 60 backlinks.
People fake PR by redirecting their domain to a high PR one. It used to be easy to detect (e.g. info:domain.com would display a different domain or the Google cache would), but now it's harder due to how people are timing stopping the redirect. The PR will be lost at the next update. Forget PR, but instead focus on authority. Why? An authority site publishes a new page. No backlinks, no PR. It immediately ranks well as it's trusted by Google. So, go after backlinks on trusted/authority sites. To help identify those, use the SEOMoz toolbar, for example (as well as common sense).
Thanks for all explanations. Last couple of days I'm searching on internet to try find some tips about how to put a website higher on google results. I think that I'm doing what I should, but still with no success. I'm looking after this website energysavinghomes.ie, and I'm trying to have it on firest page on google when you type 'Renewables Energy'. So at the moment I'm building a links but as I told - no results I'm wondering, how professional companies doing SEO? What tricks they are using?
What worked for me was getting backlinks from .edu websites because most of their PR start from 5. These are the type of websites you want to get linked to since these are legit. This method, by the way, is a part what you call organic or natural SEO. Although it's not the same speed as black hat, its effectiveness extends much longer. Regarding your keyword, maybe you mean "renewable energy". I looked up your site and its keyword. You might not be facing such a huge problem in beating your competitors to it since its competition is medium with a huge number of searches from people every month. As of tricks, there isn't really a certain method as Google changes its algorithms every now and then. Just take it slow, be patient and learn more in reading from forums. Don't hesitate to ask.
I assume you meant "renewable energy" (as no-one in Ireland searches for the pluralised form). For the Ireland results, there are a bunch of establish authority sites, so you might want to target something people are more likely to search for. As you're targeting Irish customers, then you want to focus on getting backlinks from Irish sites. Sure, other sites won't harm too, especially if they are relevant. Add a blog and make some worthwhile posts about saving energy. Tips on things that people can do for free, for example. New products in the energy saving market and other such things. Once you have a good blog going, do guest posts on blogs relevant to your niche. Also, establish a social media presence; get your brand out there. You need some on-site changes, too. For example, I would expect the promotions graphic to be clickable. Also, rather than the contact info at the top right (and a contact us at the bottom), have a contact link in the primary navigation. You want to make it as easy as possible for people to contact you. That's just to get you started, there's more you can do. Good luck, mate!
Thank for all your advices. This site is not my own. I'm looking after it as a web developer, so I agree with you ryan_uk about contact link. It was on primary navigation, but after I created commercial page the owner decided to put it on this two places. (There is no room for another tab.) Just I'm worry abotu a blog. I heard many times that this is good. But if site owner is not thinking about a blog, so as developer is some thing else what can I do instead blog? Because when I'm doing sites about different subject I think is no point do every time new blog. What you think abot that? PS: I'm appreciate for other suggestions (keyword and promotions images)
Well, if the business owner isn't interested in a blog (and probably not in Social Media either), then that's their problem and loss. Are you hired as a webdeveloper or SEO? You seem to be doing both. Spend some time reading up on sites such as SEOMoz (their main blog and also the user generated content ones) and Search Engine Land. You will find some good ideas for link building there, which are white hat too and (most likely) safe against future Google updates. Are you good at drawing, for example? (There is a reason for this odd question. ;-)
Not by hand More than drawing I like photo manipulations. At the moment this is what I'm doing mk-designer.com and would like to add to my services soe as well
