We do 99% of our work in .Net and the remaining part in JSP.

One of our junior developers used to do PHP but quickly saw the light that is .Net :)

    Ruby on Rails for me!

Once you learn it, you won't use another framework. They use a very sleek MVC design, and everything is object oriented. It also comes with a great library and long list of pre-made functions.

Mix in the ability to scaffold your project, and the ability to literally create a web application's groundwork within minutes, and you have one awesome framework.

I'm actually writing a book on RoR. It won't be out for another month or two, but I have around half finished. I'll let you know when it comes out if you'd like a read :)

I think frameworks are primarily a bit in hype, with lots of people not jumping in any.

Do a search on Django performance tests. In terms of scalability it vastly out performs other frameworks like cakephp and ror.

The reviewer missed the point of the views and layout in cakePHP. I'd have given it a tick for "template"

It's also pointless because it doesn't take into consideration:
    • the community which contributes to add ons, source code and support for users
    • the documentation to get users up and running
    • the intuitiveness of the system - how long does it take to understand the system.
    • is the code held above or below the webroot, and other security issues
For most frameworks the performance differences will be small, but the time to get your site up and running may be huge. It is an important consideration.

Very good point made. While choosing u have to look at all the things rather than just the performance. Anyway sad to see, Django with 0 vote, it seems ppl haven't tested it much.

It depends on size of your project.
For small projects it could be any of mentioned frameworks. Personally, I think it will be ROR.
But for large projects: Java or .Net based.

    ITs a very solid framework.

2 Years back, the Main developer of Django and RubyonRails had given presentation on them with taking questions in the end. Its a Great video and u can download it from here http://www.djangoproject.com/snakesandrubies/

Use torrent and download the full 700+ MB file, its worth it, though u can skip some part as its a 3 hour video.:)
