It's all about smart pricing that Google invented. To get best pay/click value, you'll need traffic that is in "ready to buy" mode. Adwords provides Conversion Tracking Tool for their advertisers. It's been studied that "ready to buy" traffic bring high conversion rate. As the rate get higher, Google will leverage PPC higher to your site. Look for the topic that you see money flying from one person to another. E.g. trading, investing, cancer cure, loan, mortgage, hyip, adsense, seo, marketing ebooks, etc. There's a reason that lyrics site got very low CPC. Most visitors are not in "ready to buy" mode. They just want to copy the lyric and sing. Free flash game site also has low CPC since the traffic is all about "free" and "play", not "buy" and "buy".
Well the most difficult part is to get traffic and you are right about buy mode well also trying to create some unique ca be good
Yes, I beleive social networks sites do well in adsense. Unique websites means, site having unique idea which people love to know and use if they can.
Anybody having tech or gadgets website ? What about those ones ? Can someone tell me something about them ?
I find a pretty low CTR. The reason is very techy people can spot ads - just like 468x60 ads and simply ignore them. They're there for content and don't really pay attention to ads unless its something they can't ignore. If you're doing a tech site - be careful, it might be a waste of time. I think you're right on the money with visitors who are ready to buy, however articles related to a certain idea, or howto can turn into sales. Someone reading about a dogs illness would be ready to buy medication, etc.
You are right. Traffic is most important factor. Don't forget if you have not placed your ads in right way and optimize the placement you won't get comperatively good bucks. Also, traffic is not the whole thing. See in case of forums, there might be huge traffic, but earning is less comperatively. This is because in case of forums people become bit ads blind.
For gadgets AdSense might not be the best choice, you may want to look at Chitika. They are good for consumer type products.
Feel free to PM me If that be the case, I wouldn't have said anything at all, just closed the thread off and searched another topic
Shopping and information sites. That is the sites where people go when they are planning to buy something. Not only you get great CTR, you don't get smart priced, because traffic from these sites converts well. Forums and blogs aren't very profitable unless you have massive traffic.
I guess shopping and information sites would bring a lot of clicks. People who come to these websites are most likely looking for stuff and therefore more likely to click on ads.
add another one to the list file upload sites i have several and return is good, but u need good php, perl, cgi, database knowledge to built a secure and scalable system also u need to know alot about managing and running linux servers basicaly what im doing is aquiring alot of servers, securing them, installing my distributed system, and pluging them into my file upload network, in return i get alot of traffic and $$ but its not easy task theres loads of competition and the key is being able to scale as easily as possible and have skills to manage dozens of servers this type of site is definately not for begginers as ull be surprised how quickly a dedicated server resources could be used
webdirectories are for selling links and the way to monotise them is by way of selling links. most visitors to these directories are webmaster and manual submitter experts. so the CTR is bad.
