there is no other way then wordpress for me and it should be not a big deal to use a similar template to the one you use on your main page
If you do end up making a few tutorials, try to use a lot of screenshots as you follow along. I know that with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator tutorials I always hate trying to follow them online with no photos. It makes trying to follow what the designer is doing so much harder, and you can't see the "as-we-go" photos to make sure yours looks good.
