Single-page? Or multi-page with table of contents? I personally like single-page articles as I can leave it to load while surfing other pages. And when I come back, I usually do a Ctrl-F search for what I was looking for. For multi-page articles, I have to load up pages one by one to check if they contain anything that interests me. What about you?
Multi works better for the writer. If the user doesn't see a ad he likes on the first page, he might see it on the second page For the reader, it would be better all on one page like you said because its easier to scroll and navigate thru the text.
I like single-page articles written in the form of a small story. I like multi-page articles only if it is a 'very' technical article explaining a programming topic for example
I don't mind multi-page ones... as long as each page is long enough. It really gets on my nerves have to press next page every couple of paragraphs. Although, with a lot of sites, if you want to who thing on one page, then look to see if they've got a print-friendly view. They you'll get the lot in one go.
Single page is best, just recently I was on howstuffworks.com and I had to click next 8 times for one article.
