Which tool is the best one for getting a definitive list of link backs to your site?

    Hi there,

    Another question on back links....
I have been referring to the Alexa website to get an up-to-date list of links back to our site only to now discover that they will only give you information on sites that have their toolbar installed! I had been wondering why this figure had not been increasing!!

Can anyone give me advice on where to go to get a definitive list of link backs to our site? I have tried using Google's Link:/www.directski.com but the problem with this is it is giving me a number of links that are originating from our website.

Any suggestions as to the best tool to use to get a proper list?

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

    Angela.

Goggle's webmasters tools shows a larger list than what's displayed publicly from their databases.

Login to your webmaster tools and download your external links. It's as easy as that ;-)

Yahoo site explorer and google webmaster tools are two of the best and most accurate. Between those two, yahoo site explorer seems to be more accurate.

Google does not update the number of backlinks in its webmaster tools but every 2 - 3 months. The last time my backlinks were updated was at the end of May - about 10 weeks ago. Webmaster tools says its updated daily, but if you look at the actual list of links, that is where you get the real dates from.

Also, where google might only pick up 3,000 links, yahoo will probably pick up 12,000 links. Yahoo just seems to pick up links a lot faster and more accurate then google.

I like to use Yahoo to do research on my competitors.

    linkdomain:yourdomain.com -site:yourdomain.com

LinkDiagnosis.com shows PR and what type of links you have, What the PR is and what the anchor text is of them, it uses Yahoo SiteExplorer to parse results

I personally suggesting Yahoo Site Explorer.

But, you can check your backlinks from any of these 29 backlink checker tools
