Which style do you prefer ?

Both are not finished, but i need to know your opinion:

is it better a forum style

The second one took quite a while to load for me, but that has nothing to do with my selection.

 

I think the first one is better for navigation. It is clearer and much easier for the user to find information he/she wants.

 

I *really* like the yellow ie-style warning message telling you you aren't logged in...

Does it convert well?

 

I like the portal style one best and like SE I too "really" like the not logged in warning

The yellow bar can help a just little with those people indecided about registrating or not.

But if a visitor wants to register, he/she will register anyway with or without bar
(as if a visitor does not find a website interesting, will not register even with that bar)

Second one is WAY nicer.

Yup Yup, It has the Mella seal of approval.

 

I would go with the portal style

 

i like the second one although it did take long to load, but it gives all the new posts there.

 

ofcource the CMS style looks better

I like them both but they would look better with a variable width rather than the fixed width.

 

I prefer the second one, looks much cleaner... And it loads fast now, so no problems there
