Are there any that discounts robots. I need a package that provides data for human visitors. I am not sure how reliable data on latest vistors log on the Cpanel is because in the last couple of days there has been a huge discrepancy between adsense impression and impressions on the Cpanel even accounting for robots and the fact the number of ad blocks on each page. As I have said recently, my site is pretty new (1 month) and I get 10-15 human impressions a day but in the last couple of days it has been 4/5 even though my adsense impressions have increased substantially (compared to before). By the way, robot visitors have also gone down in the last couple of days. My belief is that the Cpanel is not recording all activity. My rankings on MSN have increased slightly in the last two days as well. What do you think?
I use StatCounter and phpMyVisites combined. I like the Recent Visitor Activity page as a summary, and I like the details in phpMyVisites, as well as the fact that phpMyVIsites has an RSS feed for the stats... Another thing is, phpMyVIsites doesn't currently track bots, though they are looking at implementing it at a later stage...
If you can get into it I recommend you google analytics. You will have to apply and wait some time (months maybe) for them to give you an account. I also use addfreestats.com their stats are pretty good an let you know exactly what adsense link was clicked on your site.
Yes, I have applied for Google's analytics and currently on the waiting list. As for adfreestats and other free stats packages, the problem with them is that you have to paste some coding. I may try to configure Awstats.
Awstats - Provides excellent statistics. Google Analytic: The best service ever found. It is usual that MSN ranks new websites better than any other (Yahoo & Google). You must continue link exchanges, directory submissions, etc in order to get better ranking in Google & Yahoo but, it is going to be a long and painful process I guess
By the way, does Google automatically provide the stats or does it require downloading of log files from your server.
The Google Analytics service uses an embedded javascript that has to be added to each webpage that you would like to track. There is no possibility to upload the logs from your server. The advantage of that kind of tracking (javascript-based) is that you don't need the log files and you get more information that if you would use the log files (e.g. screen size, ...) - but you will not see any Crawler (because they don't fetch the javascript files in a way that would track their access). The original Urchin software (Google bought that company) has also the possibility to analyze the log files of a server. You had to install this software on your webserver and it analyzed the logs and added information into an internal database and allowed you to see that information. Tobias
