Ben Hogan Witnessed his father commit suicide, served in WW2 and almost killed in a head on car crash in 1949. He flung himself across his wife to protect her and if he hadn't would have died as the steering shaft went straight through his seat. Came back and won 7 Majors despite being severely impeded by his leg injuries and only being able to play a few tournaments a year. In 1953 he played just 6 and won 5 including The Masters, The Open and The US Open. He overcame many things and still managed to be the best and for me he is the most inspirational sportsman.
This a a difficult one for me to choose. ...However, I think I'd have to go with Cris Cyborg - though not many men or women find her physically attractive; she's an incredible Mixed Martial Artist.
