I use since many years most successfully - my entire site, thousands of pages ( with exception of blog and gallery ) is built with Quanta plus - included in most Linux distributions such as openSuSE. besides excellent HTML code writing features - Quanta has a number of tools and plugins that are most helpful - including linkchecker.
if you're a mac user, textmate rocks. Coda is also not bad, but if all you need is a dedicated coding app (it does lots of other languages too) you can't go wrong with textmate
yeh i like notepad for minor edits, Dreamweaver simply cos its WYSIWYG. Notepad++ is quite useful I use Joomla now as it has a WYSWIYG edit and html source edit, saves me a lot of hassle for setting up a website. It has lots of plugins, addons and theres a massive community for it and its FREE!
I have always used Dreamweaver for HTML Codings. Although it would be best if you can code manually using Notepad. So that you can understand the structure more easily.
To get started I use seamonkey (old Mozilla) making it much easier to get any pages started - http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/ Another option is Kompozer - http://www.kompozer.net/download.php Both are free - and great for setting up pictures, tables etc. But as pages get complex they quickly start jumbling up code - which is then much easier to keep clean using notepad++
you can use any software.....i recommend you to use Notepad ++/notepad. but best thing is to learn html coding yourself after that
i use dreamweaver and virtual studio.I use it because there is a design mode in dreamweaver its easy to adjust anything
