If you are seeking solutions associated with hosting services I will not pay a penny for any Yahoo related thing.

However I have heard that Netfirms ecommerce solution is excellent

http://oscommerce.com/ gets a ton of good reviews.

I would probably use that if I started one myself. :)

It's also open source and has a huge fanbase of coders and modders behind it.

    (Did I mention it's FREE?) ;)

oscommerce seems ok. But recently i discovered virtuemart. It seems better because it integrates with Joomla and has custom teplates. Has anyone tried it?

osCommerce is a personal favourite of mine too. However, it depends on what you're selling. Especially if you're selling digital products, you may have better luck looking for a cart tailored specifically to your product.

Another advantage to oscommerce is that there's TONS of people using it so if you hit a wall re installation or encounter a bug, there's many people that can help you. Also, it's easier to mod since there's already an installed base.

I am surprised no one has mentioned ZenCart. It is a fork off of OScommerce.
It will be worth your time to check it out.

    Hello,

If you are very good PHP programmer then oscommerce will be ok. If not, then I would suggest Avactis Shopping Cart. It has a very clean back-end and you can integrate Avactis storefront into almost any web design since they use special tags to call info from database. With osc it will be difficult, or even impossible to integrate storefront with into your current web design. Most oscommerce shops looks the same, as you may see... With Avactis you can create online stores with unique designs very easily.

Yahoo Store is easy to use, but there are limitations when you get into customizations.

I've looked at WebCEO but Google may view that as spamming and devalue the site

I've read that MSN is pretty good. They have a free version and incremental pay versions.
