I was planning to open a social networking community for my school and I did a survey to find out what features do they like to see in the new network site. I found that the majority prefer facebook as it is more interactive given the large number of applications. They like things like the "poke" application, the "pillow fight" application, etc.. They quoted me something like the ICQ was overtaken by MSN as it was the first to come out with funny icons which was lacking in ICQ. The same is now happening to friendster and myspace - taken over by facebook. The next question that I posed was will they come over if I were to set up a such a site. The response was rather poor. Unless I have a site which is more interactive and customisable than Facebook, they would rather stick to the present one. If I want a successful networking community, the site has to have a more interactive interface. More functions which users can have fun with. Functions which will keep my users coming back. One example which was given was they is an application in Facebook which is similar to the "poke" application. If they are "poked" and they do not respond in 24 hours, points will be deducted.l This keeps the users on their toes as they will keep coming back to check on their accounts. I am wondering if there is any scripts out there with really tons of mods. Be it paid or free, I need these mods. Just like phpbb,VB, wordpress, joomla, they have tons and tons of mods. Is there any social networking script on the market that has such volume of mods which we can install on our site to make the community as interact as that of Facebook? Or is facebook invinsible? I have ran through many of the scripts but only phpfox has more plugins. Their plugins are mostly used for customisation but not for "fun" where people can use for interaction.
i like phpfox now that they released their new version, version 1.6 - i agree though, there aren't many plugins that are fun. besides most of the plugins are way overpriced. still think it's the best script out there though
