    But I like both.

    When I saw that thread I wanted to post the same answer ;).
    And I have something to add. An HTML sitemap should be put in the footer (or anywhere else) for users. But actually if your site is not large and has very easy navigation I guess there is no need in that kind of a sitemap.
    On the other hand, an XML sitemap is a must for any website. It should be created and set in the Google Webmaster tools and in your robots.txt file.

    I think both sitemaps are important. XML sitemap helps search engine for crawling all pages of sitemap where as html site map helps user to get detail information about your sitemap. And creating sitemap is not difficult process. With the help of Google sitemap generator, u can create both sitemap easily.

    I also prefer xml sitemap...because google crawls your site fast by crawling xml sitemap not a html sitemap.

    Hey It has very simple logic... We are creating HTML site map for user. it means user can easily find his/her required page through HTML site map. and we are creating XML site map for crawler. crawler can read HTML site map but XML is Stronger as compare to HTML. so we are using XML site map for crawler.
