Which Sitemap is better HTML OR XML ?

XML is better for sitemaps.

 

XML sitemap according to Google Sitemap protocol is useful to intimate Google bots about the latest updates on your website whereas HTML sitemap is useful for the visitor while browser or navigating your website. Both are useful

 

Both sitemaps should be included for a better website promotion.

 

i don know much abt sitemap but i prefer XML sitemap

 

you do not search what is the difference between html and xml sitemap

Both are equally good some how for the Google point of view Xml sitemap is better and for the user point of view HTML sitemap is better..

Both sitemaps are used by search engines. Search Engines are smart enough to read all the languages. As far as tools are concerned, I' am not a big fan of using free tools because they simply kills the purpose of sitemaps. Sitemaps are used to make your site crawl and re crawl faster. Lets discuss a scenario, Your site is already in the sitemap and all URLs are cached by Google. On one page you have added some more content and now you want Google to re crawl that newly updated page. Best way to deal with such issues is by changing the last modified tag in the sitemap. If you use free tools then it will change the last modified date of all the URLs.

All sitemaps should be on the root : That's not correct

Its easy for search engines to crawl xml sitemaps that html sitemaps...xml sitemaps are search engine friendly!!..i read some where that its better to post html sitemap to yahoo directory and xml is well suited for google..for fast listing in google use xml sitemaps

 

Both sitemap are important. But as per crawler XML is more important in compare with HTML or other sitemap extension.

If you seen that Bing webmaster toolbox only accept .XML format sitemap.

I think both should be used: XML one is mainly for search engines esp. Google, and HTML one is for human visitors.

 

Hi, i think both sites are very use full..... XML sitemap used to search engine......HTML is used to handle simple and small sites........ and XML used to handle a large sites....
