You can't get .com's unless you take part in a contest of some sort. dot.tk has free .tk domain and co.nr has free .co.nr domains.
You can't get free .com domains. Maybe some companies will offer it "free" but you have to buy expensive hosting as well from them
Domains do not cost much- why do you want em free. Your friend could buy one and then push it to you, something like a gift......

there are some sites that give you free domains like ,com and .org.. but for that u must sign up..do some contests fill offers...some are free too..collect points and then u get domain.. But NEVER go for such offers..u know what..these sites..they buy that domain..and then when u develop later..and maybe if its value shots up...its not reg to u! its registered to them.. You just have it on sort of lease basis..not that they push it to you..dont get fooled..theres no such thing as free domain! except naive .tk and co.nr which are not all that appeasing as TLD's.
Most of those types (Contests, free offers, etc) are spam/spyware sites and are scams anyway. Don't expect to get your free domain even after you've completed the offers.
yes, jmhyer123 is right. & most of time, they are only for US/Canada Users. Rest of world don't get domain from this sites.
