    Just thinking about to start a forum,which should i choose SMF or PHPbb?Please give me some suggestion,thanks in advance.:D

    i lke SMF, but its not much stable... But as an admin its easy..

    Anyways most of the peopla recommend PHPBB..

    Wrong Place though

    SMF is very stable and a much better choice then phpbb.

    I personally hate smf, just layout and how it works is crap. i'd personally say for a free forum you should go for mybb. phpbb 3 will be the best free bulletin board software when it's out of beta, so go for phpbb

    PhpBB all the way. SMF is nice, but the template system will make you wish you were dead. That if you want to make a unique skin. If you're one of those with default skins, you'll have an awesome time with it. SMF is not bad, but I don't like having to worry about php code all the time. On phpBB I mess a table when I pit a bad code, in SMF I kill the forums and get parse errors. I have 1 SMF.. can't wait to switch to anything else. The script that really made me want to kill someone. Never had issues with any of the others: phpBB, myBB, IPB or VB .. I make skins for them all and my 13 forums are on these scripts. One is on SMF and I kinda regret it. I was able to make some changes finally and it's working pretty nice now, but that took me 30 hours of work at least .. I could have created 3 unique skins for phpBB all this time
