    You do not need to submit your site to the search engines, if you want them found as quickly as possible then you should utilise social media.

    The search engines usually index a site even if you don't submit it to them, simply submitting them to the social bookmarks would do the trick

    I think there is no need to submit sites to search engines nowadays.
    All the major search engines can index your site automatically.

    submit a sitemap to Google (its recommended in the webmaster guidelines so why wouldn't you) and then ping your site. The other search engines will follow.
