How can I work out which search engine to use to advertise and promote within for a specific country?

I want to promote a site specifically in South Africa, how do I know which search engine they use. Obvioulsy google is available but performance is varying significantly.

    Is there a better option?

    regards

    Paul

You've made 3 threads about this.
If this was a mistake I would advise editing out the other two threads...

I don't think too many will actually ask themselves what search engines to use these days when google has almost become a dictionary word. It has created the biggest engine to index internet data, can't really afford to mention words like performance here, google is at top, that is too obvious.

I think Google is the giant search engine in entire world. so i advice you to promote your site in Google only no need to searching for any other search engine which may designed for the South Africa specifically.

    Thanks

Try to find out if any online marketing studies have been made that target south africa. Google, 90% of the time is a safe bet.

Check your local (South African) media on what search engines there are... But chances are, if you haven't heard of others, google is IT. Still, some countries yahoo is big. In the Netherlands we have a few alternative, specifically Dutch SE's. But you have to get to know your own market. So find online or offline info on what the internet-scene is like in South Africa specifically.
