    You have to work for Google because it's a major search engine in the world and most of the people targeting Google. If you will do the work target Google Search Engine than you will get lot of traffic from Google and other search engine because lots of Search Engines also follows to Google.

    Yes, Google is the most popular search engine, but you cannot forget about Yahoo, Bing, etc... These others will also give you good traffic so you must keep working to rank well for all of them.
