Which script will fit my need?

I am planning to create a website which has information about all the schools of my country. The site will be a portal where all the schools according to their geographic location will be listed and then users can get detail information on the schools through this portal. Updating the schools info, adding new stuffs should be easy.

Which script will be able to do this? I prefer a free script. I'm currently leaning towards joomla.

i DONT THINK,YOU CAN GET A FREE PORTAL SCRIPT FOR IT..
Last week,my team did it for our state's all schools for 1400$.

 

find it on sf.net they have load of scripts or if you want custom made script shoot me with pm
