which script is required for social community site?

    i m planning for a project for launching a social community site but have no perfect idea wht all things are needed to start it.I want to start with basics..if anyone can help me out then i would be thankful him.Looking for some partners too...if interested please pm me.

    Handshakes is pretty good but costs a few hundred
    Phpfox is good and you can do heavy customisation
    Elgg is free and everyone seems to be loving the new updates

    I would suggest you use phpfox or abledating coz it have many feature.

    If you are not using a hosted solution you will also need a dedicated server which runs around $100/month and more if your site gets popular.

    no site can compete with a generic script, you'll have program your own. User's are not stupid entirely they know a dupe when they see it.

    I (although a developer of a dating script) will always recommend: GO CUSTOM.
    We develop abledating at http://www.abledating.net and have this site also: http://abk-experts.com/
    Here you can order a completely unique solution, not to over-saturate the web with clones of different dating software scripts.
    There is only one piece of advice one can give here: GO CUSTOM!!! Get an open source solution and change it until it is unique. Of cource it is easier to do this when you have a script with a lot of features like abledating from the beginning.

    But it can be any other software script. Skadate, Boonex, PHPFox, whatever. But make your homework, imagine what you would like your site to lool like. And answer one simple quiestion: WHY THE USER WILL USE MY SITE AND NOT ALL THE REST?
