Which script is best to start a forum?

Hi,

I request to all expert share own experience about the forum scripts. I just want to know which script will be useful and great in the sense of optimization. I have looked two of the scripts one is phpBB and vBulletin. But want your suggestion before using any script.

if you want basic features in a forum, phpbb is the way to go. unlike vB, its not heavy not server..

but vB has many addons which can attract more users! but its costly at the same time and you'll need a more powerful server.

 

vbulletin.

 

vBulletin is the best, but it's a paid script.. Next I would try phpbb, smf, or mybb for free scripts.

I think phpbb is one of the best free forum scripts talking about optimization, probably the same as SMF.
For a paid one, deffinitely vBulletin.

MyBB is also a good one. I have been using it since last 3 years.

 

Paid: VBulletin
Free: SMF or PHPBB

 

It has to be IPB. Excellent script, looks so pro.

Just depends on if you want to spend some $$ or go the freebie route.

SMF Rocks... IPB and VBULLETIN are other two different paid scripts that Rocks in the Boards in Internet.

 

I have to add that starting out with vB, which isn't cheap, should be for those that have specific experience and know that it'll be a hit immediately or almost.

Otherwise a free one, either phpbb or smf and maybe even mybb would be the most reasonable choices.
