Hi all just wondering which script does http://www.target.com/ uses? does any1 know? I mean their website is awsome, you hardely can figure it out that it is an amzon affiliate website.
I don't think you would be able to find that one on the internet. They probably paid someone to make something custom for them since they have the resources to make it a quality site. -MadMurphy
Yeah, it's a custom job for sure. But Amazon Web Services is pretty powerful and it wouldn't be THAT hard for an accomplished programmer to write something like the script target.com is using. Shame I'm not an accomplished programmer...
Target.com is using a custom built technology, that integrates parts of their own internal inventory management, warehousing , shipping and logistics and incorporates Amazon Web Services. I'm sure Target works with Amazon to compliment its existing inventory, and to supply the Amazon Marketplace with their own products. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe I read somewhere in the past that Amazon actually setup their e-commerce platform. thanks, PuReWebDev
This is not an amazon shop. this is their own website. its Powered by Amazon.com not an affiliate. i would think they have something in the system that triggers if they cant find it in their inventory it grabs from amazon. Probably a partnership.
It IS possible to do something like this with AWS - I am not sure what distinction you are making between something being "Powered by Amazon.com" and being an affiliate. I mean, you could make an Amazon-based store WITHOUT putting your affiliate code in, I suppose...! But having said that, it does seem to be a more complex use of AWS: and They seem to have some additional partnership where they share account details - I am pretty sure you can't do that just through the API. However, as for having their own inventory, the only articles I have seen at a cursory glance on their site are Amazon articles (they all have ASINs). But then there are the proprietary gift cards etc. Clever, whatever they've done - certainly more than just setting up an Amazon script and waiting for visitors!
