After reading some topics of this forum I realised that there are many successfull directories owners and who better then them to adive about the best scripts to use.

So, I'd appreciate if some of you could post which scripts do you think that are the best.

What other recomendations for a begginner ?

    Thanks in advance.

indexscripts where can I find this one. I already know phpld and I'd like to try others.

Btw, regarding phpld do you recomend the free or paid version? I know that the paid version is better, but do you think it's necessary to be "successfull" ?

I would suggest you PHPLD- easy admin panel, number of resources and god support that makes PHPLD a favorite script!

    Hyperlinked it.

Use PHPLD since it's so widely used, don't go for a script that's not widely used because when you need help, you can hardly find people helping you with the script, but scripts like PHPLD is different, there're so many people using it that you've so many people to seek help from! :D

    Here it is webbizo http://www.indexscript.com/download.php

Having only used the paid version of phpld so far i cant comment on the free version, but i guess if you check the features of each and see what you need from the script the most, then can decide if the free or paid version is most suitable for you.

Regarding to be "successfull" well i guess if your serious about your directory and need particular features then the paid is a good choice, but i would say the success is more down to the effort put into a directory.

I have 2 directories. One uses PHPLD, which gave me little trouble.

I have just implemented Freeglobes directory script at www.visualsearch.info/directory.

This is a beautiful script and easy to use, have a look at it. Currently this script is also free.

There is a free version of phpld? I cannot find it anywhere. On the site it says you must pay at least $25 to get the script. If someone can show me where to get a legal free version, I'll give them rep.

I have used a few scripts on my directories, but to be honest with you, I highly recommend taking a look the one that has worked flawlessly for me for the last two years.

It comes with a price tag for sure, but is extremely versatile and packed full of great features. I could really elaborate, but the web site says pretty much everything. :D
