    I used to use RSS bandit, but switched to Great News due to performance reasons. Both are very good desktop readers (windows only). Have a look at feed-readers.com, it might help you to find what you want.

    Ditto here. What I like about it is that its able to render all type of contents (including video). So, I dont really need to visit the original website.
    Plus, I get notified whenever one of the feeds has been updated and I dont need to launch a separate application.

    I will recommend this RSS Reader/Feed Writer to anyone who is looking for an RSS Reader with an in-built Feed Writer. Ideal for the novices.

    I understand the creators are an IT firm in Sweden. It's definitely a good piece of application worth trying.
