Well you have not listed a number of companies that should be on your poll!

Anyway here is some of the best deals around right now:

You can currently buy 6 or more .com's at MyDomain.com for only $6.66 using the coupon code "bargaincat.com" - Using the same coupon you can purchase very cheap .info's for only $1.03 at Domain.com and the price goes down to around $0.90c the more you buy.. that is the cheapest! This coupon can be used at all these companies as well as Dotster.com for domains & hosting to save 15% of your entire order.

godaddy is kind of hard to beat if you dont need rock bottom prices, if you are under say 200 domains it is a good solution

You can only register 1 domain at Yahoo for the cheap price and Netfirms only allow 5 names, so it is very limited but ok if you only need a couple of domains but there is also a few issues I have read about with Netfirms.

No I have already registered 3 domains with yahoo using the same credit card and more than 5 with netfirms (using more than one card)...

I never thought yahoo allows that... and i tihnk that they would cancel that but they didnt.... those domains are still active......

really, ok they must have changed it recently.. last time i used yahoo it was only 1 allowed, it used to be 5 once, same with netfirms, it was also limited to 5 or 6.

so does anyone know the limits for them now?

I've used 1&1 a LOT... $5.99 .coms with free private regs. I have also transfered to and from them many times with no problem.

Presently I am using Dreamhost... $9.95 .coms with free private regs.

GoDaddy wouldn't be so bad if they didn't constantly blast you with ways to squeeze another dollar out of you. In fact, here are a few things I didn't like about GoDaddy:

    • Expensive private regs.
    • Cannot toggle private regs at will... if you remove them, you cannot add them back without paying again.
    • If you add or remove private regs, or make ANY changes to your whois, your 60 day transfer out wait is reset.
    • DNS changes take WAY longer with them than with others I have used... especially Dreamhost who's DNS changes seem to be SUPER fast.
    • Shouldn't have to have coupon codes... should just offer the damn price, and not have the coupon only apply to the fresh reg... give me renewals at reg price.
    • Bob Parsons is of The Devil.

I actually use a swedish registrar, paying about $9.50 for .com, perfect service descent web interface and never a problem with transfers or such.

    1) You missed a while bunch of more popular registrars - dotster, moniker, domainsite

    2) namecheap is a reseller not a registrar. Is whiz.in a reseller?

    3) dynadot.com is the registrar site - not dynadot.info

    :)

I would say namecheap. Godaddy is pretty nice and has cheaper domains but I get lost in their site due to the sea of ads being shown unlike namecheap.

    I'm a big fan of active-domain.com, $8.95 .com domains

I'm wasn't a big fan of the way Go Daddy tried to sell me lots of stuff I didnt know about and wasnt sure if I needed when I tried to buy a domain from them when I was first starting.

Maybe Yahoo for the first year, then expect to pay 9.99 or close.

I just got an email from Yahoo that they were going to take $9.99 out of my account even though the domain I had with them was transfered away a long time ago. I then had to login, and click through about 5 pages to cancel my account, what a pain!
