Magento would be the BEST in terms of features etc.

But like let's say your making a site for a client, cmon guys admit it magento is not EASY TO USE if your not tech-handy. I get some clients that don't know how to use facebook.

If your using it yourself, then i'd definately recommend going through the ADMIN CP demo's of every eCommerce platform:
    • magento
    • woocommerce
    • volusion
    • opencart
    • shopify
    • etc..
Try them all, see what you like best.
Majority of them can do what the other can, never tried shopify to be honest.

Wordpress with Woo commerce plugin is the best for ecommerce site. You can check https://wpoven.com/ which lets you create such site on fly. While you get fully managed hosting with the site creation your basic plan would also include dedicated IP, Dedicated VPS, premium plugins and themes such as woocommerce plugin etc. and several other advanced feature. having your Ecommerce site is now made really easy.

I agree with slimx, just about every big ecommerce site these days offers free 2 week demos. Try them all out and see what you're most comfortable with.

Some require more knowledge of HTML/CSS, while others are based at making web building process as easy as possible, with minimal customization required.

I know Volusion offers a free 14 day trial along with just about every other one. I gave Volusion a try and it was really simple and easy, but like slimx said...demo everything.

vikeshswami did say he wanted to develop an ecommerce website so Wordpress and Magento are good options. My opinion is that Magento has a bit of learning curve and Wordpress is a blogging platform first. I've heard plenty of recommendations for Prestashop and OpenCart as well. As a designer, I've given up on having to maintain open source carts and prefer the ease of use of hosted shopping carts.

magento is good, but much resources in server, i suggest if you would like to use magento, then use VPS not shared hosting

WordPress is the best for beginners but we still have no plugin matching all needs. Woo Commerce has pretty complicated interface and too much obsessed with their themes. There is a thread where some new WP plugin discussed. It would be interesting to watch after its evolution and struggle against Woo Commerce.
