I'm looking to get Photoshop, primarily just to create neat logos and Web 2.0 style buttons. Will I likely need a full blown Photoshop licence, or will elements do the trick? If I do need full blown, should I consider avoiding CS3? Examples of what I'm looking to do include: http://swaymedia.com/?p=87 http://photoshopcandy.com/?p=20 Any pointers much appreciated.
1st link is for fireworks 2nd is for photoshop just to tell you. I have CS2 and I have to say it works great, CS3 is pretty over priced I would say, not to different from CS2. Does run quicker though . In the end it is up to you though.
Photoshop CS2 or 3 would do the trick Don't get any versions below CS because you can't open updated photoshop CS files.
I'm using CS2 and I'm pleased with it. At this moment I think it would be better buy some plug ins than upgrade to CS3.
I know I'm going to get flamed for this but just pirate it until you start making money off it then buy it
CS2 is for classic users. CS3 is for experienced users. I can get you it for free if you'd like, PM me.
CS2 if you don't want to spend overly much. CS3 isn't too much different but costs considerably more.
Well I think if you want just an image editor "just to create neat logos and Web 2.0 style buttons" you can very well use freeware programs. Other wise CS2 is the right way. CS3 brings alot of new features but i'm sure many people rarelly use them.
hell, photoshop 4 to do this web 2.0 crap. create some text, overlay a gradient on it, elliptical marquee over the gradient and delete part of it, add a drop shadow. voila, web 2.0. really it depends on your budget. check ebay or something for a boxed copy of an older version. i wouldn't recommend cs2 or cs3 because of you being a beginner and that's quite a penny to drop on some software you have no clue how to use. http://computers.search.ebay.com/photoshop_Graphics-Photo-Publishing_W0QQfromZR34QQsacatZ41859 happy bidding.
if you are a beginner I thinks CS2 is worth for you..I've used CS2 about a years and now switching to CS3..I feel CS2 is more for beginner and CS3 is something for experienced user who are well known to the icon and tools..
i think you should go for cs3 as upgradation is always necessary in our life so better to opt for higher version as it has to be used some or the other time so go for it or you can w8 for prices to come down a bit
Already bought CS2 - my girlfriend will be using it, as she's the artist. It helps that there are a ton of tutorials out there, so I can just email her links and say "do that, please!" - and then she can use the more advanced editing features according to artistic temperament.
