Which pays more?

    Link Ads or Link Units?

    Has anyone done a comparison? Link Ads have the anchor Text, description and the URL, the Link Units have just the anchor text, does this make a difference to how much advertisers pay out?

    because in Link Units, one have to click on the link and then the advertisement..

    I did a test using channels on my site to see which types worked the best. The ad-links out-earned the ad-units by about 5 to 1. I have since removed the ad-units from my sites and only use ad-links.

    Note: This was for my sites and may not be true in all cases. I would suggest you set up a channel for both and run a test over the next week or two to see how they fair on your site.

    link unit will give you high click rate, it happens with me :)

    I think they pay equally, it just depends on the ad.

    If the ad-links outearned the ad-units, why did you remove the ad-links ?

    Oops - made a mistake (fingers type faster than my brain can keep up or vis-versa).

    Corrected the original post to state that I no longer use ad-units on my sites.

    Depends upon placement. For example for one of my jokes site the link unit pays a very CTR. but the link ads are a bit less. Where as the same for othr sites of mine the link ads pay much more price.

    Once they click on the link unit you get money for all the ads they click inside the new window.

    I have found that over time both are similar. However I find that Ad Units have a much better CTR, making them much more valuable.

    Link units does not pay until the visitor clicks on an ad after clicking on the links.

    I agree that it prety much depends on the ad for my site... other than that it is pretty much equal.

    Yeah i've noticed the same thing. Since using Link Units my CTR has gone up 4 fold but the money hasnt gone up that much.

    i think text link ads pays more because image ads looks like advertisement . people can understand image is an ads so they dont click image ads . text link ads has more ctr
