which PayPal account type is best for me?

trust paypal to confuse account holders with their fees  right now i have a personal acc but i think the fees are killin me

i mainly receive payments for goods or services, usually cross-border, almost always from a PP balance and rarely from a CC

i am using personal type because it is the only one that doesnt charge for payments made by PP balance. Premier charges for such payments.

is this right? acc to you, which acc type would be best for me for the above mentioned parameters?

    help would be appreciated :)

Well, nowadays PayPal also charges for transaction in personal accounts until and unless its been sent via PERSONAL TAB.

So, its better to use a Premier Account. You will have all the facilities in it. :)

I guess Paypal realized that it was loosing good amount of money since people were doing commercial transactions, even in a personal account.
So they stopped the practice of charging fees based on account types but devised a new transaction 'Personal', which made the account holders liable if found misusing it for commercial transaction! :(

The new system makes it irrelevant to be having personal or premier account and charges fees for all commercial transactions!

yes. but isn't it true that personal accounts do not have a fee charge for payments made by PP balance while premier accs do?

This rule was applicable only when the old fee structure was operational. Paypal has introduced new fee structure and this feature has been completely done away with, in the same! :(

i appreciate both of you helping me out :) thanks a lot

i just noticed that i was looking in the wrong place. the "free, when money comes from PP balance" was actually for personal transfer, not purchase.

i currently have a premier acc as well as a personal acc (PP policy allows me to do so)
so as per your advice, i will be using the premier account. i suppose i can transfer all my current money from the personal acc to premier via a personal transfer?

    thanks a lot again :)

thank you for the replies everyone :) appreciated. i have realised that the fees for the type of payments i have been receiving are the same in both types of accounts. so i guess i will switch to my premier account. but i will also keep my personal acc intact, since PayPal says i can have one of each

    @mentos: i don't really think i need a business acc. it is not a BIG business :D

For someone who's making business transactions (buying/selling sites, services), but don't have an official business set up, would the best account type be Premier?

Are there any legal issues or problems with registering a Business account, but not having an official business registered with the county or something?

First of all, Premier is the best account type for things like that.
It's not legal to register a business account, when you don't have an official business registered. Keep in mind that it's also not legal to offer services & business on websites without an official business set up, because it means you are dodging the taxes.

I'm basically doing the same things as you tho and using a Premier Account for it.

    ^ Thanks inzongo
That makes sense, but I would guess that a ton of ppl offering such services here on DP probably don't have an official business set up...

yea...premier is the best. as already pointed out, it is illegal to offer services with a business account when u dont have one officially set up

yep. acc to PP policies you can legally own one Premier/Business and one Personal account. however, you cannot have one business as well as one Premier account.
