I want to receive donations via Paypal from my website. Which PayPal account is the best for this purpose - personal or business account?
    Thanks.

It's easy to get a PayPal account. From the PayPal account registration page, select Personal or Business Account, then choose the country you live in. Next, on the PayPal Account Sign Up page, enter your information, then click Sign Up.

I know how to register an account, I am just not sure what account type should I choose. Why do you copy here useless information even without reading my post?

Simple answer to this is, if your register with a premier account you can easily accept donations via make the donation link settings thru > My Profile> Account Settings>.

If you register for a business account you would have to provide quite abit of information and documents before you can proceed. So i just Premier for a start and once the amounts start getting bigger in the future move to Business account.

    Hope that helps!

If the donation go to your own account, select premier account.
If the donation go to the company, use business account

Get a business account. Are this donations going to you? OR are they going to a business you have. If you have say a blog and write useful information you should open a business account you may want to convert those donations on to a service pay in the future.

    Cheers,

Well, I asked this question because there may be different fees for each account. I read somewhere that business accounts have lower fees. Are they lower for donations too?

Standard fees apply if you are not a registered non profit org....check the details in the below links.

    https://merchant.paypal.com/cgi-bin/marketingweb?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=merchant/donations

    Setting Up:
    Confirm Nonprofit Status
To receive discounted rates, sign up for a PayPal Business account. Select Nonprofit as the business type, and Charity as the category.

To confirm your nonprofit status, log in to your PayPal account one day after initial signup and submit the following items through the Resolution Center:

    • Evidence of tax-exempt status.
    • Bank statement or voided check in your organization's name.
    • PayPal email account.
    • Contact information.
    • Description of your organization and type of payments it wants to accept (such as donations or merchandise payments).

Discounted pricing will not apply to your account until you have received an email from PayPal verifying your nonprofit status. See our Get Started Guide for more details.

    Pricing:
If you are not a 501(c)(3), you can still use PayPal with our standard pricing. All other nonprofits pay our standard rates.

Donations that are not associated with a charity or non-profit organisation are not subject to these requirements, but all donation transactions are subject to review and must comply with all of PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policies.

I guess it’s preferable to use premier account if you don’t have any business partners. If the only person to receive the donations will be you, then use premier account. Otherwise, the Business account is what you would be looking for. The business account will ask you to provide details for tax purposes mainly. Quite moronic if you ask me.
