I have a dynamic WP blog. Should I build backlinks to the individual posts, to the category page, or to the home page (which is always changing)?
You should build backlinks to all of these ... backlinks for your individual posts will help you rank for the keywords used in that post. backlinks for categories will give a boost to all posts in that category. Think about article directories and other big sites! All authors submit their articles, individual posts on the site, and to rank they start building backlinks to that post. When searching for some phrase in google, you'll see that most results will take you to the inner pages of the websites. Hope that helps!
50 percent of your link building should go to your home page. And you should divide the rest to the other page of your site. It should works just fine.
i think that is probably very good advice, Link building has to look natural and genuine linking more often than not links to the specific relevant page.
What type of blog platform you are using ? Wordpress ? If you are working with wordpress, you can try to building backlink for the main domain first. After that, try with tag URL or categories URL. It should getting good result.
To all of these, build most of the backlinks to your home page, with your domain name as anchor text if it contains your keywords or with your blog title (which should always contain your keywords!). Build the rest of the links to a variety of different blog posts you want to promote in the search engines. Build backlinks slowly and make your backlink profile looking natural to avoid problems with Google, SY
I think that it is better link to your homepage. also you can create links into your site that point to other categories into your site.
All of these, especially the individual pages since they will be more SEO if you write the articles correctly
All of them. If you've got special offers or similar on an inside page it's essential that people searching for that particular offer should go direct and not have to navigate through your site - which they won't do - they'll just leave.
Ultimately you need to create links to pages that you want to rank well for. Linking to your homepage is important but also focus on linking keyword rich anchor texts to your category pages.
would you say the same applies for a site with 7 or so pages? where the content is more static. i have a small logo design site (link in signature) just 5 - 8 pages, should i direct close to 100% of the traffic to the homepage alone, or split it among the few pages ? thanks.
You have to target each and every page of site for linking. All pages are equally important so we have to work on home page first than we opt for other pages. The most important thing is every page have its different anchor text or title for which you are doing link building.
