    Hi folks,

I'm just going to take a dedicated server from ThePlanet and the provider give me some options to chose from, which OS to use?:

    *Windows Server 2003R2 Standard Edition
    *FreeBSD 6.2
    *Centos Enterprise Linux, Version 5
    *CentOS Enterprise Linux, Version 4
    *Windows Server 2003, Standard
*Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Version 4
*Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Version 5

Which one would you chose considering I'm going to set several websites on it (including some sites with vBulletin forums).

I think for panel i will use cPanel, with Fantastico. Am i doing the right thing? Consider they offer also Helm, Plesk and Ensim.

Another point is they offer the SQL server.
    Which one you suggest?
*Dedicated Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for Workgroups - 2 proc
*Dedicated Microsoft SQL 2005 - Single Processor
    *MySQL
*SQL Server 2000 for Workgroups- 1 proc
*SQL Server 2000 for Workgroups- 2 proc
*Dedicated Microsoft SQL 2005 - Dual Processor
*Dedicated Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for Workgroups - 1 proc
*Dedicated Microsoft SQL Server 2000- Single Proc
*Dedicated Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - Dual Proc

Is MySQL ok considering after all I'm setting some vbulletin?

Thanks guys for your pompt answers.
    Take Care

Well, cPanel is probably the best for someone with not a whole lot of experience (imho anyways). For the operating system I would probably go with CentOS 5 or Red Hat Enterprise Liunx 5 (both are essentially the same OS).

Now the SQL server part, well I think they're doing that for people who want to run a dedicated server just for doing the SQL. At this point in time I don't think you need it and you should be fine with cPanel and it's install of MySQL on the same machine as everything else.

I won't recommend theplanet at all.

For OS, CentOS 4.5 (64bit if supported) + MySQL
For Panel : DirectAdmin (personal) or cPanel (selling)
