    Hi,

    Please tell me which OS is better for gaming .. that will run games smooth with great frame rate .. i want to run new Games like Call of duty 6 etc.

    i have,
    Core 2 Duo E7400 - 2.8Ghz
    3GB Ram
    Nvidia GeForce 8500GT - 512MB
    1TB Hard Disk

    I think if we talk about gaming you have only one choice that is windows. Most cool games don't work on apple and Ubuntu etc.

    But if you want all older games also to run then use Windows XP.

    i know that windows is good but i want to know which window will be best .. i am using windows XP Service pack 3 right now .. but some games run slow and i want a good frame rate .. i have good computer i dont think i have to upgrade something .. XP also does not support DirectX10 .. so tell me a OS for smoother and fast gaming with more good graphics . i dont wanna use any other OS than windows so tell me any OS under Windows

    Windows Xp is the best version of windows for gaming. It doesn't eat up your resources. A gamer always want to reserve all his memory and processing power for gaming and nothing else. Directx 9.0c august release is sufficient enough you dont need dx10

    Looking at your hardware specs I believe you have a tight machine and should be up to specs with the latest games out there. Just upgrade your video card and ram if you really want improve graphix.

    8500GT is today's 9400GT ... i searched a lot and i found that 8800GT is the best card and most powerful ... better than 9800 but sadly no one have 8800 in stock :( so i want to be with my 8500 GT ... so what will be the decision ? XP or VISTA ? i have a game the saboteur and its running quite slow so i want to make it smoother :D

    Use Windows XP Service Pack 2, and not 3. Do not use Windows 7 yet. It's still "new" and some games don't work with 7. I would stick to Windows XP for a while.

    any votes for vista ? my graphic card is shader model 4 but in xp dx9 only enables 3 :( so thats why i was thinking maybe vista will be great for a heavy system ...

    all you guys who replying here are you really a gamer or just commenting here ?

    i only want support from gamers who plays all games and have experienced everything about vista and xp with heavy machines

    so please my gamer friends help me

    Im a gamer thats why its hard for me to add content to my blog because I play a lot this days heheh!

    Trash Vista, Its a nightmare OS for gamers, Im hearing lots of good reviews of windows 7 but I still bet WinXp is still the best for games with less resource consumption and with excellent compatibility with almost all type of softwares and hardwares. Hence less likely it'll make your game crash.

    Linux is probably the best gaming system, but unfortunately all the games are made for windows so I guess you will have to go for that unless you want to mess around hacking linux to make it work
