Which Option Is The Best?

I'm fairly new to websites but have been doing research on various affiliate programs, SEO, Marketing, and stuff like that. I am about to create a website with a great domain name but I have one small issue.

Should I ONLY focus on a single type of product such as ...Home Theaters? Or should I have areas that cover every type of accessory imaginable? Cables, speakers, etc..

This is only an example as I wouldn't bother with that particular area for my first site.

    Advice?

I was thinking the Home page would be a nice intro to what visitors would expect to achieve by visiting this site and an area with maybe 6 big buttons leading to the various areas named above.

Sorry to double post but would Google be more friendly if I had the one site that covered many aspects? Or a Mother site that led visitors to separate specialized sites?

Software would be a good example.

Would it be better to have an all encompassing site that did Anti-virus, helpful software, browsers, maybe some games, etc..

Or just the Mother site that led people to very specific Antivirus, software, etc.. sites...

I'm not doing software as it's flooded beyond belief but it's a great example.

Promote whatever you know best, you're going to have to do a lot of advertising manually so its best if you know what you're talking about.

Start with a small niche and once you start getting traffic and making some money, expand to adjacent areas. Provide good conetns and make the site useful to visitors. Good luck

I have high hopes for this site but like I said, it will cover about 3 specific types of products eventually. I should just do them all on that site? It's a very unique spin on sites that get a lot of traffic so I think it could maintain 3 products very well.

I just don't know enough about Google to tell if it would recognize the separate categories.

You'd better start off developing one specific niche that has an established audience and that has a lot to offer to people interested in it. Later on you could expand by adding or developing other niches related to the original one.

If you start with several niches you would be running the risk to fail them all. Choose the most lucrative one and develop the things in such manner that you present yourself as someone who is competent enough and has special and unique things to offer.

    my 2 cents...
