    One more vote for Win7.
I used to install ubuntu in virtual machine to try it, but never switched to it in every day usage.

If looking is not the main thing for your PC, window XP is the best and stable OS of Microsoft. Window 7 however is good but i have seen many of bugs having in that OS,still its constantly improving it. If you are kinda fed of with XP and want new looks Windows 7 is good to try. As said Ubuntu is free OS based on Linux OS, I have used earlier and it is not bad. But main problem is software compatibility that most of the windows software will not work in Linux, so one's had to find Linux based software and everything, which cause an different environment to build it. There is nothing to try and learn new.

I have moved from windows to Fedora and now Ubuntu. I think, Unix based operating system are best, and Ubuntu is best among them.

Windows 7 which is what I currently use. It is worth the price if you can afford it. :)

I was always a fan of XP... then there was Vista which I hated... and now there is Windows 7 which I LOVE. So that basically tells my story :)

At the time XP was awesome, but these days it feels old and decrepid. In hindsight it's not that great. Currently I use Windows 7 and love it.

I used Ubuntu when I used XP and liked it, but had too many issues for me to switch permanently. After using Vista and now Windows 7 I feel Ubuntu is even worse then before. But I mainly hate how when you upgrade Ubuntu everything breaks. I have an old laptop with Ubuntu on it which I upgraded a month or two ago, the turns out the latest version doesn't run (at all) on it!
